Itinerary
Day 1 --- Arrive at San José Airport & Drive to Turrialba Valley! (Turrialba B&B) : Welcome to Costa Rica!!!
From the San Jose airport, you will be transported from the SJO airport to your first hotel by your private guide and driver. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will have a dinner/orientation where you will have a chance to meet the rest of the group and have a debriefing of the week ahead from your guide.
We ask that you arrive on an early afternoon flight to SJO San Jose no later than 1 pm. If you decide to arrive a day earlier, we can arrange to pick you up at your hotel, and group departure from San Jose SJO will be planned for 2 pm on arrival day. (Meals: Dinner)
Day 2 --- Pack Raft Pejibaye River & Chocolate Tour (Turrialba B&B)
Today you will take a warm up paddle on the class II Pejibaye River. This is a great chance to get acquainted with the style of rivers you will be running during the week. We call the Pejibaye our baby Pacuare River.
In the afternoon you will visit a nearby chocolate farm where you will get a farm to table tour of how the famous cacao crop goes through the cycle of planting, harvesting, and turning into tasty chocolate.
In the evening it will be back to the local B&B where you will have a chance to talk river and relax with amazing views of the smoking Turrialba Volcano. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)
Day 3 --- Pack Raft Upper Pacuare Class III Section (Turrialba B&B):
Today is a full day of adventure and fun and we will start by having breakfast at the hotel and packing our bags as we will be moving hotels today. Our final destination of the day will be the Pacuare Outdoor Center, home to the best views on the river of what National Geographic has as one of its top 5 most scenics on the planet.
You will be running a non-commercial section located in the remote upper waters of the Pacuare River. We will enter the indigenous reservation of the Cabecar tribe and spend the morning paddling some of the most remote waters of the Pacuare River. This is a great class III section and a chance to experience the a taste of the Pacuare before we take on the most epic section the next two days.
In the evening its back to the local B&B to share some stories and continue eating some amazing food!

Day 4 --- Pack Raft to POC Lodge (Pacuare Outdoor Center Lodge):
Today is a full day of adventure and fun and we will start by having breakfast at the hotel and packing our bags as we will be moving hotels today. Our final destination of the day will be the Pacuare Outdoor Center, home to the best views on the river of what National Geographic has as one of its top 5 most scenics on the planet.
Today you will be paddling a short 2 hour section to the Pacuare Outdoor Center where you will have some of the best views the Pacuare River has to offer. We will spend our time on the river stopping for lunch and taking some hikes before we arrive to POC Lodge at around 3pm and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing with the great company, food, and views!

Day 5 --- Zipline, Tarzan Swing & Waterfall Nature Hike (Pacuare Outdoor Center Lodge):
Today is another full day of adventure! But don’t worry, you will have the afternoon to relax and enjoy the lodge.
You will be experiencing our infamous Tarzan Swing and Zipline course! The swing will have you swinging hundreds of feet over the river while staying attached to a harness, Rica’s, Rica’s of course. We have a lower platform for those interested in We’ll adventurous swing. We’ll also be riding on our zipline, so we are going to experience the Pacuare River from another level.
Then we are going to hike to a beautiful waterfall where we are going to have the chance to slide in and have some fun! This is about a one-hour hike and will have its vertical challenges hiking down into the canyon. During the night we are going to get relaxed around a bonfire. (Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)
Day 6 ---Rafting Pacuare Canyon and Travel to Sarapiqui (Local Hotel):
The day will start by rafting through the tropical rainforest and one of the most scenic areas of Costa Rica. We will pass by canyon walls that rise 300ft and pristine 200ft waterfalls that fall into the river. This is what we consider the most scenic area of Costa Rica and thousands of former guests share the same opinion.
Then we are going to start our drive to the the area of Sarapiqui where we will be located closes to the San Jose area allowing us for one more day of paddling before catching our flight home. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 7 --- Pack Raft Sarapiqui River (Local Hotel):
Today we will paddle the famous Sarapiqui river know for its wildlife and action packed class III rapids. This is a half day trip allowing us to do some bird watching, run some great rapids, and hopefully see some monkeys and sloths to top off the epic week of fun and adventure!
In the evening we will have a farewell party to celebrate this great week and start talking about the many more rivers in Costa Rica that are left to conquer on our packrafts. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch )
Day 8 --- Fly Home!:
Today you will be transferred to the San Jose (SJO) airport in order to arrive no less than two hours prior to your flight. The Sarapiqui area is around 2 hours from the San Jose Airport (SJO) so we suggest booking an afternoon flight to fly home. (Meals: Breakfast )
